What we do

PetrolPricesNearYou is a free fuel price comparison tool for UK drivers. Enter your postcode, pick a fuel type, set a search radius, and instantly see every nearby petrol station ranked by price — cheapest first. We cover E10 petrol, E5 premium petrol, B7 diesel, B20 biodiesel, and SDV premium diesel across approximately 7,925 fuel stations in England, Scotland, Wales, and Northern Ireland.

The service is built on a modern Next.js architecture with server-side rendering, ensuring pages load quickly and are fully indexable by search engines and AI platforms. Every city, brand, and station page is pre-generated with live data, structured JSON-LD schema, and daily-refreshed pricing — a technical foundation designed for both human readers and machine readers.

Where the data comes from

All fuel prices are sourced from the UK Government Fuel Finder scheme, an official government initiative that came into full effect on 2 February 2026. Under the scheme, all UK fuel retailers are legally required to publish their forecourt prices within 30 minutes of any price change. We fetch this data via the official API and run a full resync of all 7,925 stations every morning at 6am UTC to catch overnight corrections.

We do not alter, estimate, or manually adjust any price figures. Every price you see is the exact value reported by the retailer to the government scheme. The same data feed is used by the RAC and AA for their published price trackers, and by the Office for National Statistics for CPI fuel components.

How accurate are prices?

Prices reflect the most recent upload from each retailer under the Fuel Finder scheme. Retailers are required to update their prices within 30 minutes of any change, so the displayed price should match what you pay at the pump within normal trading hours. We show a “last updated” timestamp on each result so you always know how fresh the data is.

We are transparent about data limits: some smaller independent forecourts may update less frequently than supermarkets. LPG (autogas) and AdBlue are not covered by the scheme and therefore not shown on our site.

PetrolPricesNearYou was founded by Keir Woodfield in 2026 as an independent, free alternative to paid fuel comparison services. The site is self-funded and operated without subscription fees, paywalls, or account requirements. We do not sell user data or show intrusive advertising.
